Is there an easy way to dial in your flow in and out to keep everything even?

As long as every thing is set up correctly, your in is automatically equal to your out. What ever your pump puts out in the tank the over flow will return the same amount to the sump. This does not work if your pump outputs more than what your return line can handle, then you have flooding.

I had to tinker with mine with the overflow. Never had an issue with the drilled bottom. The issue was that my mag couldn't keep up with my return. I planned ahead and put ball valves on the drain and return lines. I had the return all the way open, the drain was 1/4 closed. I was using 1/2" PVC. The return was a mag 7.

if your pump has to much return flow for your drains then i would recommend either using a T and ball value to redirect a portion off the return line back into the sump.

My return is just a tad slower then my intake so I put a ball valve on that and just had to restrict my siphon side.
