Covering aquarium top

Wanting to cover the top of my aquarium to prevent spray and my wrasse from carpet diving. Any suggestions? Was thinking a polycarbonate sheet from Home Depot. Thanks!

Eggcrate/light diffusing panels sometimes work. Depending on the wrasse, it may or may not stop it from "carpet diving" (lol).

This depends a little on you tank, but a DIY mesh top I think is best and pretty cheap. You can get clear mesh netting from BRS (go with the smaller size mesh). The materials to build the frame are super cheap at Home Depot or Lowes (about $5 for the aluminum frame you cut to size and the plastic corner pieces). The tricky part is if you have overflows or anything you could have to build around. I'll see if I can grab a quick pic of my screen top

The screen on my tank sits on the plastic clips that came with the glass top.

I use egg crate and have had no issues with jumpers. Still get great light coverage and coral growth even though some would say it diffuses too much light. No issues here

Been wanting to do this to my tank as well, but problem is that the tank is a bow front so been trying to figure out how to fit one for that. Currently has glass tops but would like to go to an all or even partial screen on the top to increase gas exchange and evap.

Yes. Its nylon so it wont corrode or rust and its clear so it blocks much less light.

You might be an engineer if...You have no life, and you can PROVE it mathematically.

I had Fort Collins plastics custom cut a piece of acrylic for my biocube and my shallow reef. They even cut tiny feeding slits. Materials plus labor was $40, which is a great price for the quality of work they do. If it's a large piece, you might want to add some bracing because it does sag after a while (I flip mine over once a week). All you need to do is walk in with the dimensions or an outline. If you want any bracing or feeding holes, tell them where. It's all done with a electronically so you get a perfect edge. Let me know if you want more info.
