So my new car has a crappy Kenwood, my old car had a nicer Alpine. What's the issue? I can't get either receiver out of the holder. I just want to swap out, I can't move one car because it won't start. How do I get the receivers out.

I know I'll need a harness but what else?

they have little tabs on the side of the mounting bracket.

you need a slim tool to slide down the side of the stereo, that should pop the tabs so you can just pull the stereo out of the sleeve

you need the removal keys for both brands of stereos most likely. These are slid on both sides of the units once you remove the trim ring. Might have to convince some best buy or car toys guys to let you borrow some keys to do this.

Here is an example of some Kenwood keys.

Those tools make it easier, however I've used wire hangers before.

anything basically slim that will slide down the sides will release those tabs. Look around at your tools...I'm sure you have something that will work.

Thanks guys, I think I tossed the keys a while ago. I'm sure something in my tools will work.

Seth, I have stock speakers in the new car and alpine 6x9's/ stock front speakers in the old car

Gonzo, not sure why your responses didn't show up. Thanks.

Doug, I'll go to HFT and look into that.

This is the second thing to do today, first I gotta fix my window regulator that went out. One thing after another with this car.
