I have 2 new 20k LEDs and I'll be switching out my 4 bulb ho t5's and I remember reading that some one said you need to acclimate your corals to the new light does anyone have any suggestions on how long I should run them on? Blues and whites?
Generally to acclimate them to the light i thought you had to hang them higher if they are not dimmable ones, gradually lowering them to your wanted height. If they are dimmable i believe most start at 20% and increase by 5% daily. HTH
You can also put a screen over the top of your tank to reduce the amount of light that is let in to the tank.
You can also move all your corals to the sandbed and move them up as needed.
Some may close up. The real thing you want to watch out for is any of them bleaching or browning. If they bleach white, move them to a shaded area. If they brown, move them up higher.
I did that same upgrade. What i did was changed them out and ran them for a lesser time than normal, then slowly worked up to my full time whem i had them on.

When I added my LED's some of my zoa's started turning a gray/brown color, I moved them lower and they stopped. They also never changed back. Should I move them higher in the tank?
