Oatyfruitybar's 20 Gallon

Then pics you shall have. :)

Here's the full tank, as you can see the anemone decided that it needed to move again today up to the far right corner. Yesterday it was pretty much centered.

My firefish and frogspawn coral. The firefish is the only NOT shy fish in the tank. I can't get my bangaii cardinal to come out for any reason other than feeding.

My tube worm shed his crown about three weeks ago, and he's finally opening up again.

Better, closer pic of the RBTA. Sorry about the equipment in the pic, but he's chosen the far back corner as his spot for now. He's really pretty and has great coloration though.

He looks pretty under your led's. Under my halides they just look pink/red. Can't wait to get my led strip. Looking good!

Came home and had an awesome surprise in the tank today - my RBTA split!

#25
He looks good - glad he's loving your tank! Mine split again a couple weeks ago and is fat and dark.

Here's a pic of the new guy and the old... both look very healthy! The old one is in the back. I think I'll be putting the new one up for sale... need some cash for Reefstock. :p

Other new additions to the tank, as of the February meeting:
[attachment=61127:name] Sour Apple Birdsnest
[attachment=61128:name]Orange Digi
[attachment=61129:name]Unidentified Birdsnest(?) (If anyone has any thoughts on what this is, let me know. :)

On another note, also having some problems with my Frogspawn coral right now... it's always retracted, refuses to come out and I'm not sure why. I know it likes medium flow so it's kind of out of the way, and I haven't noticed any fish bothering it. Any other thoughts from anyone on why it's hiding? It's not ALL the way retracted, but I'm puzzled as to what's bothering it.

Found four aptasia in my tank. :mad: Going to get some peppermint shrimp to deal with the problem.

Well, the peppermint shrimp worked out great for eating the aptasia. Unfortunately I lost a few corals after the aptasia went away and I suspect that they did it. I went to D&G and they were nice enough to take them off my hands.

I also lost my red pincushion urchin, he's hermit food now.

Have positive news though - I got a blue tuxedo urchin and it is eating my hair algae like there's no tomorrow. Also, my RBTA split itself not in half, but in thirds. I have three anemones hanging out in my tank now. Want to make sure they all survive, but will probably put two of them up for sale soon. Three in a 20 gallon is just too many.

I'm in the market now for a bigger tank too, as long as it has a cabinet with it so I can hide my buckets and chemicals.

Thanks. Aptasia scares me. I originally got them from D&G too, which is probably why they took them back lol.

I'm pretty sure at this point that it's an ORA Pink... it's a bright pink/peach color, with very small polyps, and is growing like a weed. I'm planning on bringing frags to the DBTC in two weeks. I can probably put up a picture tomorrow.

View attachment 5563 Unidentified Birdsnest(?) (If anyone has any thoughts on what this is, let me know. :)

Is that the one you got at the "Firehaus" meeting, instead of growing a few new long branches mine sprouted 20 or so stubby ones... crazy how 2 similar frags can go two completely different ways!!

Yeah that's it. It's gotten much pinker since then under my light. Actually that pic is pretty old, that's what it looked like when I got it. Mine sprouted a whole bunch of stubby branches too, and those are growing out. So far none of the new branches has split like that, so we'll see how long they get. It's been growing crazy fast though so I'm fragging some tiny pieces off to bring to the frag swap.

Madness! I tested my tank tonight for ammonia, nitrite, etc. and for the first time in FOREVER all my parameters are perfect!

Ammonia - 0.0ppm
Nitrite - 0.0ppm
Nitrate - 0.0ppm
Phosphates - 0.0ppm
pH - 8.3
Calcium - 440ppm

Only thing wrong is alkalinity is too low. Only 2.0 meq/L. :/

This post isn't really important, but I wanted to share because I think it's amazing and have never had (almost) perfect parameters before.
