I got my new PAR meter yesterday. It is available for club member use. I prefer to offer my services with it (since it is an expensive toy) but can work out other arrangements as well. I am located in Aurora, but I am fine with some travel in the evening or on weekends if you live in the Denver Metro (from around Westminster/Arvada to Castle Rock, and East to Lakewood or maybe beyond. PM me if you would like to use the PAR meter and we will set something up.

Here are some readings on my tanks. I took these tonight after work. The first is my pico. The light is 12 Cree XP-E and 12 XP-G. I currently have the whites at about 25% and the blues at about 50% and the light is about 4 inches off of the water.

This is my 34 gallon Solana. The lights is made using chinese LED's and consists of 18 RB, 12 Blue, 18 CW, 18 NW, 3 Red, and 3 UV all with 60 degree optics. The light is about 9 inches of the surface of the water.

I merged the two threads, and the title now says PAR not PAP.

Also, if you don't feel like going over to the persons house to "supervise" every time someone wants to use it, you could use the rules that DARC has for their PAR meter? I believe they give you a certain amount of time that you can have the PAR meter out, PLUS they make you give them a check for the amount the PAR meter is worth brand new. That way, if you somehow lose or break the meter they can just go get a new one.

I have actually used the DARC meter before and I understand the reason for the deposit. However, I feel that there are A LOT of people that simply do not have, or feel uncomfortable (myself included), with giving that kind of money to a total stranger. I would like to allow everyone to use the meter without the high risk. There are a few people in the club that I have gotten to know and that I feel I can trust. For everyone else I will either get to know them or simply take my chances. The worst that happens is that the meter is borrowed and never returned, which ruins things for everyone in the club, or the meter is broken, which I would hope is accidental, and I can't really hold the borrower responsible for an accident.

I am OK with bringing the meter to peoples houses and taking measurements because it is always fun to see other peoples setups and get ideas and suggestions on different ways of doing things. Also, after getting readings on all of my tanks, I will no longer have a lot of use for the meter, meaning it would get used VERY seldom. I might as well allow others to put it to use as well. I can allow MEMBERS to borrow the meter if needed, though non-members will need to have me present. Either way I will enjoy getting to know some more reefers in the area.
