So I called Elite to see if they still had rainbow bubble tip nems and the guy there (I think he said Mike) said he never heard of a rainbow bubble tip nem. I could have sworn I seen a post on here abot someone picking one up at Elite...

He then said it is probably a morph of a rose. So are all rainbows just morphs? Did the guy who bought the rainbow from Elite buy it as a rainbow or a rose? I is confuseddeded

BTAs come in alot of differant colors and/or color variations.... Between what I have in my personal tank and what I have for sale with my business, I have five differant color variations of BTAs! I have a Sunburst BTA, a Rainbow BTA, Rose BTAs, a pretty light lime metallic green BTA, and then a couple kinda regular green BTAs with some neon green stripping in them... I would have to say from my personal observation of my nems here, there is a definite differance between an actual Rainbow and a Rose BTA. They Roses are a lil paler/softer in colors and, I think, should lack the orange the Rainbows have. Rainbows are more vibrant in color and have and orange bulb with pink tips coming from a green base with white speckling all over in most cases that I have seen.

I wouldnt be surprised if a rainbow mightve gotten sold as a rose if it weren't colored up all the way and maybe was a bit pale.

Does that help any? :) lol

Ok so bottom line rainbow bubble tips are real and if a shop sells them as rainbows you can expect it to be a rainbow and not a morphed rose?

I'd have to agree with rocky on that... depends on the shop/vendor. Some roses can color up nice and to someone who hasnt seen the two side by side before - they wouldnt know the differance. So some sellers try to pass nicely colored roses off as rainbows for more $$. Its hard bc a non-colored up rainbow looks like a rose, but a colored up rose still doesnt have the oranges as the rainbows do I believe.

If I can get some good pics I'll try to post them up for you to see the differances... since I'm still trying to find time to have a critter photo shoot anyway! LOL

If it helps any, both Gonzo and Reefkoi sell true rainbows if that is what you are looking for... And If you got one of ReefKoi's - I could bring it up with me Saturday to ERF and save you some shipping since I live down here in the northern part of the springs about 15 mins away from him lol Gonz lives up in Greeley, so I'm not much help there lol But both will ship too :)

So the guy that bought it from Elite was Mantid. Him and I went into Elite for some stuff and we saw the "rainbow" anemone. Heather was there talking with us, shooting the ****, and Mantid decided he wanted to buy it because it looked sweet! But it wasn't really sold to us at any certain "name." Just bought it because it looked cool.

I think the term Rainbow was simply coined to make some more coin and they are simply rose BTA's after all a rainbow has 7 colors.........hehehehehe simply my opinion

The one I purchased had a bluish mouth, deep green base and deep green half way up the tenticles, then turned red to orange then the bright pink tips. I have had my share of RBTA in the past but this did not have the colors or pattern of your typacal RBTA. It had many different colors.

I looked it up and it seemed many people were selling this same nem at rainbow nems, so thats what I called it. But yeah, Elite did not have them marked at anything other than RBTA. So sorry for all the confusion from the start.

Hard to see the green base because the color is washed out from the camera on my phone. But if you look at some of the tenticles that are laying on there side you can kind of see it. Imagine everything you see in the photo much more intensly colored.
