Reeflo???

I have had a no name big external pump and just bought a reeflo dart and barracuda, I jumped a little quick with out much research. Does any one have experience with these, if so what are your thoughts. I am also thinking of selling the dart, after looking at the flow chart I think the barracuda can more then handle all my needs. I got the dart for $150 and I would let it go for the same.

Reeflo is excellent in my experience. I've been running a Barracuda for about 7 years now, i changed the seals when we moved, but other than that it just humms away. Company is the Springs, so email them directly for seals and parts and they will send direct for the cheapest.

Good to hear that you guys like them.

Rocky, I could use the cash to help finish my build, but what do you have for trade. If it is corals then I would need to wait until the frag tank is ready, I am out of room right now. Let me know what your thinking, could even do half cash half trade.

You using these for your build with the basement fish room and 90G DT? If so, the Barracuda will be more than enough. You will need some massive overflows to even approach the flow put out by it. I have a basement sump with a 150DT with (2) 1.5in Overflows and I can't handle the full output of the Barracuda. And that's after teeing off for the frag tank, and 3 reactors. In addition, unless you have a bunch of outputs, you are going to be putting out some serious laminar flow that nothing will like to be in front of. I can't have anything in front of my (4) outputs. AND, all that flow will have to go through your sump, with all the bubbles (fish room mist) and turbulence that much water creates. With the type of powerheads that are out there these days, I would minimize flow through the sump and the associated return pump, and maximize the flow in the DT itself. You'll have plenty of water going through your sump regardless and it's much more efficient to move the water in the tank.

Get rid of the Dart, or keep it as a back-up, I've had one for a few years but the Barracuda just won't quit. But it's not the type of pump you can run to Petco and pickup, so I am always worried what I'd do if it did. Having the Dart makes me feel better.

Yes, this is going to be part of the new basement build. I was planning on having a t to return directly back to the sump to help eas back pressure off the pump, then t'd to the dt and frag tank.

RP, I am going to do a little more research, clean them up and test them. I will get back with you pretty soon. If I dont get rid of either, how much do you want for the dosing pumps.

One of the best things about the Reeflos is that they are adjustable by restricting their output. You won't be hurting it any by just dialing down the output with a gate valve, and the energy usage of the motor will decrease also.

Unless there is another reason to pump directly back into the sump, you'll just be wasting money.
