Phytofeast should work. you'll need to provide some aeration. I use a rigid tube attached to an airline.

ok. i have a small air pump for wally world. and a 5gallon tank. or is it ok just to use some 2 literes?

Two liters are fine. I use half gallon glass jars just because I can clean them easier.

Ya pickle jars are just fine jus t vinigar smell and lots of people dose that into.their tanks.
