Damn, where are you buying your fish at? just read the whole thread and I have never had that many fish problems. Well.... I guess when I first started the hobby I did. Back when I used to buy all my fish from Sherman Tank. I learned real fast where to get good quality live stock. Best to pay extra and only buy it once!!

Well, I've gotten almost all my fish from Vendors. My Majestic from DD and the Purple Tang from Petco (which is doing awesome in QT so far).

I seen your post on the purple tangs. by than it was too late for me to grab one :(. Ok one rule that I have always follwed about Angels is that they like really established tanks. I would say 6 months or longer before placing them in your tanks water. I have lived by that rule since I started in the hobby. Give your tank some time to establish. Remember it is still balancing out even at a year old. Just my $0.02. No need to rush them in there. You will have way better luck if you slow down the stocking process especially with a young tank. I wouldn't even qt angels till your tank is close to 6 months. Good luck.

Thanks for the input!! Unfortunately, I didn't get that advice at all in the beginning and now I have all the Angels i'm getting already in the tank. Honestly though, I probably wouldn't have gotten into the hobby if I had to wait over 6 months to a year just to add fish. The reason I say that is...everyone (vendors, research, etc) that I talked to said Angels needed to be put in the tank first and at the same time (if multiple). Ironic part is, the tank had already been running for months before I actually did get any fish in there. I'm assuming the combination of using liverock instead of dry and ending up running for several months has at led to success with them in the display!?! Trying to find similar size Angels in the types I wanted proved very challenging. Then having lost one to velvet and others having ich, QT time got extended a good while.

I guess what's done is done now! All the angels are doing awesome except for the battling between the blueface and majestic. However, the majestic is happy by himself in the 110. No competition...just swimming room. ;) Don't know what I'll do with him if I sell the 110. :(

I hear ya. It makes it tough to wait it out. I would of did some smaller reef fish and the dwarfs first. Followed by the larger angels. But sounds like your past the learning curve ;). Good job and hopefully your enjoying it. Well I like majestic angels. If you decide to part with him let me know. I may be interested. I wonder if yours is reef safe?

Thanks again! I pretty much went with the advice of our local vendors that have lots of experience with Angels. I added my two tangs at the same time as the Angels too, there was a good amount of battling so for couple days even with the tangs. I probably should've added them a week or so later after the angels were established. Who knows, I figure it's not an exact science as many ideas/opinions fluctuate. ;)

I'm thinking I might need to remove both of my current tangs to put my Purple in?? With PT's being aggressive I'm wondering if it's not going to cause some major problems, even with the angels!?! I guess we'll see. ;)

I'll definitely hit you up first about the Majestic. Beautiful fish, which is why I got him! I wish I knew if he was reef safe too, unfortunately I don't have a large reef set up, just my nano. Either way, I'm thinking he'll need to go to a good home. If I keep the 110g it's going to be a reef and I wouldn't want to keep a large Angel in a 110 anyhow, though he has some time to grow.

I think your purple should be just fine. Because he hasn't established his territory. I would be leery adding tangs and larger angels now after he has been in the tank.

You think he'll be okay with the other tangs that are already in there? Just a tomini and a mimic eibli right now. I definitely don't plan on putting any other tangs or angels in at this point. Just a Pakistan butterfly and one or two wrasses, then DONE!!

Yeah, you shouldn't have an issue. As with all fish just monitor their behavior once he is in. You have a big enough tank with not too aggressive tangs in there now. Wait.... no Trigger in there?

Nope, no triggers for me. My understanding is they can mess up acrylic. The mimic can be kind of aggressive, even tries to go at it with the angels sometimes, which is odd and not smart. ;)

Wow, did I get an AWESOME surprise from my better half today!!! You know you've got a keeper when your lady calls and says, "I'm almost home, get a QT tank ready." LOL...the anticipation was worth it. What you say...none other then a beautiful Chevron Tang!!

HUGE shout out to Dave at Aquamart for creating such a great deal this month for MASC members. I cannot believe what a steal this fish was with our member discount. Best price I've ever seen on a Chevron. ;)

Oh, so update now that the Reef has been in full effect for a month. I have the Majestic Angel, Purple Tang, 3 Chromis and two clowns in there. I have been shocked that my Majestic hasn't nipped or touched a single coral in the tank. That said, I don't have any acans or clams. Unfortunately, acans and clams are two of my favorite things, just not sure I want to start him down the coral cuisine road yet. ;) Anybody have large angels that didn't go after clams or acans??

I had bad luck with a Koran and acans. It took about 6 months, but when she started changing from adolescent to adult she started munching on any fleshy coral she could get at.

That's what I'm worried about. :fear:Oh well, now I'm debating on taking the Majestic out before the reef really starts taking off and I won't want to tear into it to catch her. :( The Majestic looks absolutely amazing under blues in that reef. Everyone is mesmerized by it...almost doesn't look real.

BIG UPDATE

So the reef tank was broken down and sold...sad, sad day. So I am left with two nano's (one established and one just getting started) and my FOWLR. I did some fish shuffling over the past couple weeks. I took the purple tang out of the reef and into the FOWLR a couple months ago when I added the Chevron to the reef. When the reef was broken down I put it's inhabitants; Majestic Angel, Chevron Tang, 3 Chromis, and a cleaner wrasse into the FOWLR. The only "issue" so far has been the Chevron getting beaten up. :( I think things have stablized though over the past 2 weeks and I he is healing up. The Majestic is still having issues with the Blueface, but is not getting "beat up", he just has to stay on his side of the tank.

Sadly, I had to get rid of my beautiful Cream Angel. It was also causing issues with the Majestic, probably since he was the biggest fish in the tank, and also with the Chevron. I had considered finding the Majestic a good home (had a couple lined up) but my better half wasn't having any of that, it was the Cream Angel or nothing.

The best part of this update is making lemonade with lemons. So I took the Cream Angel to Aquamart since Dave wanted him. I go in and they just happen to have a fish I've been trying to get since I started in the hobby, a sub-adult Annularis Angel!!! That fish was always at the top of my list but no one could ever get the right size or even find them, and the couple I've seen in stores over the past 1 1/2 years were TINY. Well, you guessed it...I absolutely had to pull the trigger. So, QT has begun on one of my favorite fish along with a cleaner wrasse of course. Wish me luck....!!
