Mapped out the par values in the tank currently. Most of the bulb in the MH have been in for several years now so about time to change them. I ordered new bulbs from Aqua Bright and what to do a before and after. Its also clear that I should adjust the position on a few of the MH and hang them a bit lower, but overall I was somewhat surprised these bulbs were still outputting some decent par values.

For any who don't know Aqua Bright, they are the newest MH bulb supplier. Since most of the other companies have stopped making Aquarium bulbs for MH its nice to see someone new stepping up to fill the niche. The guys that started Aqua Bright are formerly from Hamilton so their bulbs are supposed to be pretty close to what Hamilton used to offer. Will post results up once I replace and remeasure the par.

Been having a little flow problem in the mangrove tank for a while now. The mangrove has grown to a point that it blocks and interferes with the flow. So needed to add more pumps, although since I have a rule of "no cords in the water" , this means either ecotechs or an external pump.
The price of ecotechs MP pumps is absolutely outrageous now days, so that left with the external option. Fortunately I had a pump Halmus had given me a few years back and it was the perfect size too.

Last week I dry fitted, then glued, all the PVC, and this weekend I drained, and drilled, the side of the tank.
So far it's working great and now have much better distribution of flow. May put some eductors in later but Im happy with it for now

I like the “no cords in the tank” rule. It’s so much neater to look at.

For sure, and also don't have to worry about electrical leaks in tank as much. Although does add bit of challenge whenever I need to add some equipment or make a change, but well worth the extra effort imo

That mangrove is amazing - how old is it?

As a side note, I've been using the Jecod / Jebao external pumps that are ecotech knock offs. I have really liked them so far, and obviously way cheaper than the MPs.

I think its around 9-10 years old now. Started as pods under my 75g for several years before I setup this tank. I now have to keep garden shears for tank maintenance so I can trim it every weeks. Its always trying to swallow the light lol

I have used Jebeos in the past but I got fed up with having to replace them every year or so. I think they likely have gotten better over the years but haven't really found it in me to try them again.
