There are a few folks here that can (over)build a stand and canopy for ya. It'll cost a bit more than a store-bought one, but will be much better made. Some of these guys do furniture grade work. Really spectacular stuff.

Probably 600-800 for a really nice set.

Too many variables to even guess. Mike and I build our own stands from cedar fencing and 4x4s, because we didn't like how the mass market stands were built (his tank was a 300 gal, mine was a 180). I've seen stands built by other members, and they're stunning. I just didn't ask how much they cost, because I didn't want to be nosy.

If you don't get responses in this thread, I'd post up a thread specifically asking for quotes on building a stand and canopy. The more info you can provide, the better. What kind of wood, how many doors, what style you like, etc. If you have pics of ones you like/don't like, that helps, too. You might even find someone that can build a canopy that will pair nicely with the stand that Mav has. I've seen it, and it's amazing.

dont have the time :(
My cad lights stand was about $650 for a 60x30 tank. I might look into that if interested. The tank was super reasonable as well. I bet you could get a custom tank and stand from them for 1200 shipped. Sounds like a lot but if you plan on keeping it... Or are you thinking of upgrading in a year or 2? If that's the case look at Craig's list. Get a tank and stand that needs work. Buy some sand paper and a few rattle cans. What's the hurry. Nothing good happens fast in this hobby anyhow. 120's are pretty common and a great size for the long haul. You'll find something pretty quick. Also, contact your LFS, most of our Sponsors have masc discounts and will treat ya well. If they are not a spencer ask them why??? Then tell them you'd be interested in doing some business if they want to sponsor. Lol also, you are asking them to order something that is guaranteed revenue without any overhead. That should help the price on a new tank a bit. IMHO
