Looking to borrow, or if necessary buy, a fish trap. My other one fell on the floor and shattered to pieces for some reason. I had awesome luck with it, usually only took 15 minutes, sometimes less, to catch whatever fish I wanted. ;) It was the trap door kind with fishing line. The 'ol 2 liter bottle isn't big enough for my fish to swim in the small end.

When y'all are done with it, can I borrow it? This dang filefish is smarter than I am.

You sure can. I can either let you know when I get it back for you to pick up (I'm in Northwest Denver) or you can work out something with Evan

How did you end up catching him?
I got a bag of tank water ready & floating, then set a net in the tank for a while and left it alone. He got used to it being there, and when I saw him hovering above it, I slowly netted him and bagged him. Smooth as butter once I stopped dinking around with the net and scaring him.
