I have boxes in Longmont if you want to combo a trip.
What types do you have? I may need to make a combo trip. Lots of the videos I was finding made the flow of the wp25 look like it had the effect but was harsh. We're trying to Getty something that won't batter our anemone around as much but still give movement.

Hey if that's what she wants give it to her lol. Was hurt tryn to save you dough to spend on corals.
:p He's the one that wants the wavebox. I'm the silly girl who wants something cheap! I'd rather spend the money on corals myself. So I guess the hunt is on for a wavebox.

I'm trying to convince him that the wp25 and making a box would work too. But there is something about an already done wavebox that he finds too tempting.

I've got two 150 gallon tanks. One has a tunze wavebox and the other has one wp40. You guys are welcome to swing by and check out the waves in each. Im actually considering selling the wavebox to move in the direction of wp40s.

I'm downtown Denver

Do you check out the little video is posted. Not sure if it worked
I saw the video, I think sending him the product video I found made it seem very violent. The one you sent had good movement.

You can adjust the power from 50/75/100% that determines how forcefull the wave is also with the control knob you can adjust height and type of wave. I can make water splash out if I wanted to.

Thanks! I may need to pick you up on that offer to decide. I wonder if the wp25 is still available.

Andrew, do you just have the wp40? Or do you also have a wavebox?

I'm really excited everyone is kind enough to offer for me to see their setups to help me decide on what type would be best!

I use the wp40. I used to have vortech and tunze wavebox. Hands down I like the controllability of the wp pumps. Please keep in mind I am a flow junkie.( for the most part I don't believe there is such a thing as to much flow) also keep in mind I run the wp40 on a 6 foot tank. I would not advise a wp 40 for a 75. Wp25 is plenty.

I have real tunze wavebox on one of my tanks and one that I made with an acrylic box and a 10 year old Tunze pump on the other. I also have Tunze 6105s on the tanks too - which are the WP equivalent in style. I have one wave that goes side to side in a few seconds and then some flow pumps to move the water around too. I have a ton of BTAs in the mixed tank that sway back and forth slowly.

It is really easy to make a box and just put a powerhead in it... all you need is some Home Depot acrylic, some Weld-on (internet order likely) and a hole saw. I won't buy a real tunze again when you can make one out of a old Tunze 6100 for about $150 bucks.

Is there a pattern or rule of thumb for making a box? The biggest concern with making one is getting it right to get the correct movement in the tank. I think the other half is dead set on buying a box....

Sounds like end of story to me :D Best to just buy the tunze wave box and form your own opinion on it, just make sure report back your findings.

I'm thinking I may just end up having to buy a tunze wavebox. Doesn't sound like anyone is willing to part with one. :wink-new:

Not trying tp push the sale, but I think the MPs and WPs are better than a wave box and easier to clean!
If I was the only one with input on the tank, I'd be buying the MP from you. The other half is dead set on a wave box. The things I agree to... I even agreed to redo all of the rock in the tank this weekend because he got tank envy and isn't a fan of our rockscape anymore.

Your more than welcome to stop by my place in Northglenn and see a WP25 in action on a 75. I have a nem in my tank opposite the wave maker and hes very happy with the flow, as are all my corals.

Keep in mind a wave box is going to cast a shadow as well, and another place that will need to be cleaned. Ive used both, and after going to the WP ill never go back. To much ease and controllability i my opinion.
