Hey neighbor! Not sure I think at this point is just get money together for new sand and rock and start from scratch. I almost gave up on the hobby after the loss, but luckily so many friendly people here have convinced me to keep at it.

Why are you going to get new sand and rock. There is still bacteria there that is alive. Also organic die off to help a cycle. Plus you wont have to pee in it for ammonia source.

Because that's what people told me to do since the entire tank died...

Personally I would clean out the dead stuff so that bacteria stays. It will still have to cycle again. It will leave you more money for new live stock. Are you sps, Lps, or zoa tank. If you are sps I can give you a few frags once you are back up running and stable.

you should be fine with rock and sand.
UNLESS you had one of the critters that emits poison upon death (Sea hare/Sea cucumber/ Anemone etc etc)

ya time, water changes, and carbon can help reduce a lot, if not all of that.
