My wife the trooper. She is checking the sump for dreaded blue clove polyps. None were seen. So tomorrow going to make a make shift sump to isolate the 150 from the rest of the system and dose Fenbendazole. Figure it's way easier to do large water change on 150 gallons vs 700 gallons. Figure I will due 2 water changes of 100 gallons each 3 days apart and run carbon as well. I will make some frags that I need to add to basement display anyway so that I will have backups. Fingers crossed.

Added fenbendazole tonight to kill blue clove polyps at 550 pm. I add 1.10 mg per gallon. First 2 photos is right after the dose.

So as I am sitting here watching tank clear up my wife says something about the tank(I cant remember what she said) but my over analyzing mind goes into overdrive. I jumped up off the couch start looking for every extra elbow and pip I have laying around the the house because of coarse I am a reef horder and plump in a temp sump. I did this because all i can think of is that tank will not have enough oxygenation with just 2 power heads and a heater. Long story short midnight 11 rolls around have everything plumbed and back up return doesnt come on. Finally at midnight I have everything up and running so meds can do the job that I hope they are supposed to.

After all said and done I was probably fine with heater and power heads because all rock was live rock to begin with and tank has been established for 4 years. Fingers crossed in 80 hours all this blue clove will be dead without any I'll effects to the rest of the tank.

Fingers crossed! If it works you know I'm gonna try it.

On your temporary sump, if you cut the return line a little above the water line would you get max oxygenation? It might be a little loud and splashy, but it's only for a few days.

I think this hobby turns everyone one of us into an over analyzer haha I hope it works!
An airstone would have been easier without risk of leaks?

Would love to see a 48 hour update. Do you think you should remove some of the dying clove coral from the sand and glass? Just thinking about the death sitting in the water...

Ruffly 36 hour update. Blue clove polyp is getting less and less. It appears that all of the blue clove polyps are retracted. Some are partial open but definitely angry. A lot are definitely dead but it only takes one to spread.

Woke up today and had a panic attack. As you can see it's very cloudy like someone dumped milk in. I added a seaclone skimmer last night and a reactor full of carbon. So in my panic I figure to error on the side of caution and did a 60 gallon wc. Surprisingly the sea clown is pulling some nice skimmate. I also have a tlf reactor full of some cheap carbon with a 400 gph pump.

I will probably do another 50 gallon wc tomorrow. If it's still really bad I will change 100 gallons.

Worst case scenario I will isolate the 390 and turn the 150 display back on to basement sump.

Fingers crossed. The blue clove polyp looks how it should in the time scale.

Sorry cant get pictures oriented correctly

Hopefully all works out. fingers crossed
Looks like maybe a bacterial bloom caused by the massive die off of the cloves

You carbon dosed... keep your o2 levels up.

I am late to the party, but I can scrape up some skimmers if you still need some.

Thanks Doug. I think it is all under control now. It wasnt an intentional carbon dose. But more of the drug to treat the blue clove contains some sugars. At least I think dextrose and maltodextrin are sugars.

On a positive note it definitely looks like I may have gotten the nasty little bastards. Should know on Sunday as everyone reports day 7 to be pretty free and clear.

As you can see majority of the blue clove polyps are dead. Worst case I will dose again in a couple weeks and double tap it.

It is definitely way more clear today. I had lights of most of the day so maybe it was little carbon and some sort of algae bloom.

On another note a lot of the sps are showinggreat polyp extension. The vivid rainbow has never shown polyps since I have had it.
