So I’m downsizing… I am going from the 200 ish to this 125 gallon from planet aquariums. I just want the tank closer to where we spend time, the basement is usually just me, and the family is up stairs. I’m also needing to simplify. I thought life would get easier when the kids started moving out, but work and other interests are pulling me back a little.

The tank will be SPS dominated, perhaps more than before. This little dude is 40” wide, 30” deep and 25” tall. I will be hanging a floating hood with the lighting. It is plumbed into the basement, through a hole behind the tank and going under that wood floor, through the finished basement to equipment / fish room.

More pics to come, and explanations of anything people ask about.

The dogs approve…

Good looking tank. Should make for a nice show piece in the main room. Gonna have to move that clock though

It’s running. Live sand seeded by some sand from current tank. I also built this structure from rock from my other system. Return pump
Is a cheapie from Amazon, if it lasts I’m impressed, silent and was around $100. If it goes then I’ll go to my sicce that’s 6 or 8 years old and get a different backup.

Lighting is two orphek natura and two or4 bars. The orphek naturas are over the tank now, great spread and powerful. Time will tell with those as well. I have halides to go back to if needed.

Another week or so and I’ll start to move my favorite coral over to this tank.

Those Orphek's are great lights... can't wait to see what they do for you.

I hope so! They have a great spectrum and spread. They also seem to have more than enough power. I’m planing on getting several corals into the tank this weekend.

I hope you continue to grow "Lemke" frags!

I like that you're moving the tank upstairs!
Once things get going I bet I’ll need to cut those fatties… it’s smaller than the old tank so probably cutting more often.

Pics to come.. been busy at work, but it’s chugging along nicely.

Some corals were stressed in the old tank, with failing light, then the move stressed them more, too much of a light change. Hopefully all of the corals will bounce back. All the new stuff looks amazing! The coral that was happy before the move continues to be happy.

So to be clear, these were taken with really blue light, through the really orange coral glasses so the color is really out of whack. It does show the lighting, and the scape. Can’t wait for frags to grow. If all goes as planned… this’ll be really nice in a year.
