I've seen them setup before, really easy to do as most are made to be plumber for hydroponics anyways. Add a sump and a light and you're good to go. You can also stack them ontop of each other if you get creative with building stands and your lights.
They bow over time due to the stress of being mostly full of water all the time and they really aren't designed to be full all the time. If you have a welded frame around the top edge I think that'd help a lot.
