Aquarium tops

I think i'll go with some sort of mesh, for sure. I just have to figure out how to actually do it with the bow front, although keeping that small bit of glass might be an option.

I'm unwilling to leave the top open because of the risk of jumpers-- I've seen it happen already and I just don't want it to happen to me.

I made a template and cut out the rounded piece in acrylic for my nc 24, then used the screen top for the square part. Seemed like it should have worked pretty well. Of course, the jawfish still found a way out... but I don't think he wanted to be a part of that tank.

Yeah thats the thing with netting, it isn't 100% failsafe. If a fish really tries there is a possibility that they will find a hole small enough in the netting to make it out. Many people double up their netting to make the holes smaller.

Using acrylic for the front should work good (other than some salt creep). If you find acrylic hinges then you can make it so the acrylic portion can be opened for feeding and then closed again. I would screw the acrylic and screen together, so that they are one piece. I might add acryilc to mine, so I don't have to remove the screen everytime for feeding.
