Aurora Quest 450 Gallon Classroom Tank

I love how much personality they have compared to the smaller fish. They always seem to be watching you. The three Nasos are cool to watch as they school together.
For a while I was regretting leaving so much of the upper part of the tank open, but now that they are swimming around in that space it makes it worth it.

So after a double dose of Chemiclean this week the cyano is finally dead. It may not be gone for good, but I will be picking up another container to be prepared in case it rears its ugly head again. Other than the tank being a bit cloudy due to microbubbles from the skimmer and lack of carbon things are looking up. I will take some pics this afternoon after I change out 100 gallons of water, which will probably leave the tank cloudy.

Thinking about expanding and adding an additional 40 gallon breeder. Currently, I have two under the main tank. One acts as the ATO the other was intended as a mixing tank for fresh saltwater. Well since I rarely do a water change that small I have continued to use brutes as mixing tanks. So the mixing tank has not had a drop of water in it since the transition. My thought is to move the top tank closer to the sump and incorporate the 40 breeder that was in the library that is already drilled for a return and overflow. I am also thinking of using some low profile LEDs like the Kessil A80s. I just want it to grow macroalgae and increase the size of the refugium. Am I wasting my time here or do you think it will be worth it?

So the under the tank fuge extension is out since I don’t think there would be enough room to access the tank and it would be nearly impossible to clean if I needed to. I am going to build an add on though. I picked up that 120 today that was listed on the forum and I’m going to do a slow flow mangrove lagoon. Hearing Julian Sprung speak this weekend brought back my desire to incorporate this component as a side display. Great thing is I’ve already got everything I need to do it.

Today I threw together a new frozen feeder out of a scrap piece of acrylic and a plastic flask. I tested it out and it worked really well. Big fish and littles all got food and I didn't have to wait for it to thaw or worry about the waste as I dump in a ton of food.

I’m a little dense, how does the feeder work?
What about adding some of the ceramics plates or the Brightwell filtration plates for increased surface area for bacteria to colonize?
