I had an ro service guy tell me that: without the proper pressure the dirty water can BYPASS the membrane. Not sure if that's possible but that's what I was told.

Interesting, I would take his word over mine. I definitely agree these work so much better with proper back pressure.

Sweet, good to know that it will work without the restrictor.
To be clear I am indeed using an emitter to regulate flow on the waste line (96 gph)
The manual from spectrapure claimed the hose from the factory was the restrictor(smaller diam) that is why originally i played with making it more restrictive or less to no avail.
