I scored a CPR prototype biopellet reactor at MACNA this year and want to get it rolling but the amount of pellets to start with is something that I seem to be having trouble finding info on.

Who runs biopellets and what amount of biopellets did you start with?

Did you start slow to not shock the tank, or just go right to the ~200ml or 1 cup per 50 gallons as most pellet manufactures recommendation?

Any other suggestions on biopellets would be very helpful!!

I started lower (200ml for a 150 gal system) , and waited 3 months for something to happen... Nothing ever did. So then I added more to 500ml total. Still nothing happened...

I added them to an already stable system hoping for improvement but really only saw build up of undesirable algae. My softies and lps looked great but my sps suffered. Im not sure if i didnt use them long enough, if i should have started the tank with them, or if I used the wrong amount of media. I think I may start with them on my future setup and go from there.
