well the diatoms have hit full swing and ugh the tank looks terrible!!!! but I know it is all part of the cycle. How long do the diatom blooms typically last? I am keeping up with 5g water changes ever 4-5 days and both the fish and inverts seem happy.

Mine only lasted a few days. I just changed filter socks every day for 4 days and it was gone. My goby was sifting them out of the sand so that was nice!
I dont see any coraline growing on the glass or overflow, however, one piece of LR I purchased is completely covered and its not dying. So I assume its only a matter of time until it starts to spread. Plus the astrea snails had some on their shells too.
Yea I'm really interested in the MPs and will probably just save up until I can get 2. An Apex is in the plans down the road plus I like the external motor for multiple reasons, one being I don't have to worry about running wires out of the tank with my screen top.
Santa was nice to me this year and put a Tunze Osmolator 3155 under the tree! This thing is awesome and is up and running!! I'm not sure if this reservoir will be permanent but it will work for now.
Quick update: Picked up the 1st of 2 mp10's for the tank and wow these things are awesome!! Also have some small corals in the tank.
Corals:
1. Green Polyp Leather
2. Orange/Pink zoa's... Unknown name- ID thread posted
3. Red Hot Chili Pepper Monti
The tank is going to be SPS dominant with a few LPS and zoa's, so I wanted to get some small frags to see how they do.
Diatoms are almost completely gone but some still remain on the sand. Parameters are stable and the tank is progressing!!
The progress continues!! Since I picked up the first mp10, I mounted and hooked up my Battery Backup. The cabinet is getting full, and I still need some more cable organizers... Headed to HD tonight to pick some up. Other than that, I'm happy with how it's all organized
Went to HD today to pick up some more wire organizer tabs and stumbled across some battery powered "tap" lights to illuminate the cabinet when it's dark. They stick on with strong double sided tape and have 3 led lights in them. Easy to chamber batteries if ever needed and seem to work great!
