Yup, I didn't think I'd consider it but I am. Reason; I think I'm going to break my build in half. I truly didn't want to but now I think it is the smartest thing. Those that don't know, I have a reef and FOWLR plumbed to the same sump to consolidate equipment. My total water volume is around 550g so this beast was up to the task. So now I'm splitting my two tanks up and need two skimmers instead of one big one. I can't take any trades because I have more equipment to buy now that I need another sump/fuge/skimmer(s)/lighting, etc.
I only started using this skimmer two weeks ago, it took a few days of "break in" time to get going but it went crazy after that. I don't even have it setup the way it works "best". That is with the skimmer on the ground/same level as the sump, plumbed in. I ended up going a different route and have mine over the sump so it's not exactly the way it is supposed to run, but works great
Comes with an upgraded waste collector and the plumbing if you'd like. I have a Quiet One 2200 (600gph) that can go with it if a pump is needed. This will definitely work if you set it up the way it was intended. I just got a pump 2x that gph and it foams like crazy. I probably needed it for the 4' of head loss the way I have it mounted. So I assume it would do the same with the Quiet One setup correctly. It can also be used with an external or plumbed in with your return. Lot's of ways to use it.
Price: $450 w/Quiet One pump; $400 w/out.
When I originally got it several months back.
