So I got a kole tang from animal attractions. I looked at their other tanks and noticed 2 tanks over another tang had ich. So i stared at this kole tang and didn't see any. Well I brought him home and my quareteen setup wasn't ready. Now i have been reefing for years and know better. I asked animal attractions if they have ich problems they said no. Obviously they lied. Well now I have it on my fish and its spreading. I can't get the fish out whith out breaking down and can't mess with my salinity due to acros. Besides buying cleaner shrimp and using garlic any other ideas. How long should it last and can the fish beat it? All the fish are eating.

Herbtana. Stop buying fish from AA, their stuff is bad. Might as well buy from petco or petsmart. From time to time josh, jon, rmougey, and the like do gb on livestock. Think the kole tangs were $32

Stability, garlic supplement, no new fish, if it gets worse quarantine with hypo-salinity, and 2 -3 month fallow period in the display system.

my tank temp bounces back and forth between 74-81 degrees, pretty much every day.

I bought a cleaner wrasse from Elite Reef and he goes to town cleaning my fish all the time. He eats regular food also and I have not seen any ich spots. My Royal Gramma had a case of ick and I was doing the fresh garlic thing with a press, cutting it into tiny pieces and the fish love it.

Been there done that....sorry about the ich...it's a pain in the ***.
Aaron's right about stability and keeping stress down but sometimes that's difficult especially with the new fish.
Ich kept coming back for me so finally I caught all the fish and put them in hyposalinity for 2-3 months. Haven't
seen ich since and that was almost 4 years ago.

You might try a UV sterilizer as well, certainly won't erradiate the ich but might knock the free swimming pests back until you fish have a chance to build up their immune system. I don't recommend running it all the time, as the UV is an indiscriminate killer of anything that passes through, algae, parasites, copepods etc.
Jon, Wicked and the other guys are spot on with their advice that QT, Hypo are the best, Metroniazole is what the zoo uses to treat fish as well and they have a pretty nice setup there.
Super frustrating and we have all been there, (if not you will).

Good luck,

Suck balls man, you are having some new tank troubles, come get a free coral to take the edge off. (provided you didn't make the DT hypo).
