Q, One should be more purple, the other more pure blue. Like you can see in the picture. It is possible I gave you all of one kind, but let me build a real quick setup so I can test them with. Will let you know in a bit.

Here's my fixture. I used aluminum deck material. My fixture is 12" x 14", with LEDs in a 5 x 6 matrix configuration. 1:1:1 Royal Blue:Blue:White.

Have to wire it up this afternoon.

Wanted it roughly square as it will go over a 24" x 24" frag tank.

Ok So I got 14 different ones connected to the 60W. No heatsink to mount them on so it's a little hard to see them all to make a comparison. They are way bright, even fully dimmed with these drivers. It's hard to type right now because I have spots from staring at them for 5 sec to see if I can tell the difference.

I don't see any difference from the blues at this point though. Need to go buy some thermal epoxy and see if I can mount these to something.

I wouldn't run them at all without mounting them to the heat sink. Once they overheat, they could roast in a few seconds.

Why aren't you using 20 LEDs on the 60W driver?

I through it together real fast to show people as they come to pick them up, in case they have questions. Also to test the difference between the blue and the super blue. Using extra LED's I ordered to see the difference in the whites and blues.

When they are dimmed they don't heat up at all, but if I turn them up they get hot fast. Not running them for more than 30sec at a time.

Crit, when you built your did you use the blue and the super blue? If so can you tell the difference?

When I look at the cree Royal blue vs blue, its easy to tell the difference, and I figured these would be the same.

Derek,

What are the specs on the 60W Drivers?

I think the 30W Drivers are the wrong ones. The ones I picked up from you say: DC OUTPUT:60-100V 320mA+-5% (20-30) x 1W

Shouldn't they be 700mA?

I tried to wire up my first bank, but all the do is flash every three seconds. Don't think there is enough current to drive 10 LEDs in a series.

Since I don't have a wiring guide here's how I wired my LED's up:
On one side of LED Driver, a single pair of whites. I connected these to 110V AC.
On the other side of the LED dirver, a pair of white and a red and black. I connected up the RED to the + on my first LED, then the BLACK to the - on my last (string of 10) LED. The white pair, I connected to pins 2 & 3 of the potentiometer.

Yea it looks like we needed to order the 36W drivers. The 30W are driven at 350mA. They would probably work, but it would be running under driven. I am emailing Felix to see what we can do about this.

Contact Felix immediately. Send a pic showing they are the wrong drivers.
Make sure you don't respond to Aliexpress saying that everything is ok. There should be an option to indicate there's a problem.

Derek,

When you e-mail Felix, ask him about the Super Blue / Blues. I wired some Super Blues and compared against Blues, and they are definitely the same LED, no difference.

Can't think how to make them work, they are under driven current wise, and over driven voltage wise. DC OUTPUT:60-100V 320mA+-5%

If you took them apart and found the resistor it was going through, you could change it out to make it the right driver. I didn't order one, so I dont want to take apart someone else's driver.

I was sure Felix said all of the drivers are 700mA, and that we made sure to tell him that.
I had him check the LED's themselves that they were all 700mA, I don't think I ever asked him about the 30w drivers.

Look like you have to hook up around 20 LED's in series with that driver in order to even get it to work. Then it will only drive them at 50% at full brightness.

Here's a picture you can use to show Blue / Super Blues are the same. The two on the left are supposed to be Super Blue, the two on the right Blue. They are the same.

Looks like they are potted in place. Don't think you can take them apart...

Also, Gale just brought this to my attention. It looks like some of the Labels on the drivers are printed backwards.

Just to clarify, The Red cable is your + to your LED, the Black cable is your - to your LED.

On the other side of the driver is 2 white cables, I plugged the one thats at the same height of the red cable on the oposite side into AC+ and the other one into AC-, I don't think that matters though.

For the dimmer circuit, the white above the red is Dim+ (it connects to the center posts on the Pot). the other cable above the black is the Dim-, it connects to one of the other posts (doesnt matter, will just change which way you turn it to dim it).
