Everyone has another hour and then I will reveal the answer from the teacher! If she is wrong, we will chalk it up to public education.

Simplify.
Find square root of 5 and 15 (Hint: if you get a large decimal number- not right)

Answer 3?

And..... Drum Roll Please!..........The Answers are......

Answer 1: 5√3 (that is suppose to be a square root sign in the middle)

Answer 2: x=2

Answer 3: 4x+11

#32
The answer 5sqrt3 means that the word "and" in the word problem means "multiplied by" Two people solved it for "plus" soooo......

Sqrt5 *sqrt15
sqrt75
Simplify Sqrt25*3
5sqrt3

rather than
sqrt5+15
sqrt20
simplify sqrt4*5
2sqrt5

Tough one because of the vague instructions from the teacher IMO :)

Geez I'm a nerd!

This is where you go up to the teacher and demand half credit on the question on your exam, lol.

It's been over 10 years since calc II in college...and I was stumped by an 8th grade problem. I'd feel bad if it didn't prove what I already knew...all that crap was useless!

Kidding. Actually think math is great brain exercise ...cuz I'm a dork like that ;) Thanks for posting

I don't agree with the answer for #1, I get 2(SQRT5)
The rest I got the same answers.

Show your work and I will have her show the teacher, I'll just say I did it, lol. Don't want the teacher to think that you guys are doing the homework.

It was a poorly written question. However, 'and' generally signifies addition.

So the most appropriate answer is the 2√5 that people came up with.

Perhaps the teacher left out the phrase 'of the product of' (Find sqrt of the product of 5 and 15) . That would signify multiplication.

Post 32 has both scenarios for question 1 with work.
