I Went to the meeting yesterday and let me say that I couldn't believe how rude everyone was. First I show up and Gabe greets me, shakes my hand and then greets my wife and son. Then, Craig says what's up and tells me how his tank move is going. Then it really gets bad from there. We are offered food (although the hamburgers and hot dogs are all gone due to me not being able to ever make it anywhere on time :) ) and then everyone just gets up and pays attention to the auction where some awesome stuff was being auctioned off for a good cause. This was my first meeting and although I didn't get to meet many members since I arrived late and had to leave in a hurry, my family and I felt welcome. I have met some members through the dbtc program as well as at elite when I worked there for a short amount of time and they are nothing but friendly. I never have much time to help out when people need a hand since I work retail and I always work weekend but I'm always willing to help out when I can and vise versa with most of the members here. I'm waiting for some of my dbtc frags to grow out so I can return the favor. The fact that you asked for money and green in your pocket is no excuse to call people out and go on a rant like this on a public forum which I though you agree with in the first place. Posts like this are probably the reason why a lot of members dot trust new members 100%.

Not sure what you hope to accomplish, you get out what you put into it. Kinda applies to life...

Just to state the obvious... I Like Fish. And this is ridiculous.... I have never felt out of place or unwelcome in this club. It is a gathering of like minded people with similar interests in the hobby of marine life. However if there is an elitist group, send me a signal or teach me the secret hand shake/ wink. I want to belong to an elite group of fish enthusiasts who care about each other as much if not more than their aquariums....... Oh wait isn't this MASC?????

i like cobbler...
Peach cobbler? I'm really more of a fruit pie kind of guy, although I have never tried apple pie with a slice of melted American cheese on it. I know people who swear by it... I just cant bring myself to potentially ruin a perfectly good slice of pie :puke:

Ohhhh, I just noticed there is a hair in the bacon pie picture.... weird how it ruins the whole thing for me. I'm still totally making one though!

Wow, I read this yesterday and was ***** slap by the stupidity of this post and just ignored it, after just getting home from an event that this awesome club put their time and funds to help a member in need.

Now I am MAD and I can not ignore this post!

Let me say this PAL, you can call me an "ELITIST" as I am one of the oldest running (funding members) next to Schase and JNG, But never ever call out a member for declining your service because he refuses to pay your demands. How does this make him an elitist? He never said he would pay you to help nor did he offer it in his post. Sorry you got your feelings hurt and you don't feel welcome here, but maybe if you would contribute to the well being of the club instead of just trying to make a buck then just maybe you would feel welcome.

I would also say this, that your lucky to belong to such a great club! If this would of happen on any other club site, you would be kicked off my friend!

GET OVER IT!!!

This is an awesome club that has done back to back annual fundraiser for members or members families in need and I am proud to be a member and friends with a club of this caliber!

RIP DV3!

Regards

Martin "The elitist reefer"

well here is my 2 cents. I have never gone 2 a meeting because I work retail and haft 2 work weekends also I live in pueblo and Denver is a bit of a drive for my pos car. but everyone on here has always been very nice 2 me and have always been more than willing 2 answer my question no matter how dump or basic it has been. I don't post a lot but do read a lot of post and have always been impressed how every one is willing to lend a helping hand 2 every one and any one and never ask for money, they are here to help out there fellow hobbyist and there fellow man, even thou I've never meet any off you I can say I feel I know you guys thru your post and threads and you all seem to be a great group of people who care for each other and are willing 2 let new people in and trust them till given a reason not too. I say here's to a great group of people thanks guys and keep up the great work!!!!

I must chime in too. I am new to this forum and so far have found everyone to be really nice and welcoming. I have participated in the DBTC program and was fortunate enough to attend Reef Ed. I plan on going to many more meetings but timing hasn't worked out yet since the first meeting. I know these folks are not elitist. Scott (Scchase) offered me a free stank for my 40g breeder. I went to check it out and it needed a little more TLC than I was able to do. He made it very clear that I did not have to take the stand if I didn't want it with no hard feelings. I appreciated that a lot because I felt bad for taking up his time and not taking the stand off his hands but it just wasn't right for me. I have only seen everyone on here offering to help when needed and providing great insight into the hobby. I am glad I found this forum and haven't been a part of such a great saltwater community before MASC. Now, I must also add that I did pick up a DBTC from Matthewkofalk and I found him to be very friendly in person and very generous with the DBTC items that he is/was offering. I am not defending any actions, but I just wanted to add that.
