That I have so many plugs? I know, but I figured that while the electrician was there, I might as well go all out. :)

Oh, the tank? Thanks! But, we'll find someone to build it. I'm more worried about Aqua Imports' lost money and our lost time. But, I'll do my best to make it up to Mike and Tom and I have a really good builder. He'll think of something to keep us going.

Well, from what I've been able to piece together, one or more of the tank builder's employees made off with $150,000 and he's run out of credit. So, he's just shutting it down. Sigh.

LOL yes the tank the outlets are awesome. I get that something bad happened to him but he should have stopped taking new orders and rushed the orders he did have or finish them himself. I am sure something could have been done. I feel bad for the people who paid him 100%. I work for a bank and they are beyond their dispute period so likely they will never see their money back. Cant wait to see this project finished though its amazing

I do have two now. I was so happy with the last one that I decided to upgrade to the "big boy."

The larger system uses twenty inch canisters (blue sump) 1 ½" Npt. Threaded fittings, flows 14-20 Gpm (75.7 Lpm) for 150,000 gallons (567750 L) and it's last state 0.50 µm Carbon (size: 4" diameter x 20" length) doesn't contain a charged ceramic. However, the discs are much larger (30) 3 ¾" and it's filter bag 4" x 18 ½" is also much larger. The larger system replacement media costs hundreds of dollars but capable of providing water for $0.002 per gallon or less for commercial usage.
From here: http://www.poly-bio-marine.com/koldproduct.htm

That's pretty cheap water filtration. I was planning to run pipes from this unit to the fishroom and also to the kitchen sinks and refrigerator. The plumber may have talked me out of combining the two, though. He can't really say that there will never be any water backup from the metal parts in the kitchen to the outlets in the fishroom. So, I may blow off filtering the water in the kitchen and just save this bad boy for the corals.

A very large number of photos in the update today. Stace asked me to go through and document all of the walls and ceilings as possible before the insulation and dry wall people come in. That way, we'll know where things are in case we need to find something later.

Well, we passed rough inspections on the first go-'round. Because nothing had to be re-done, we managed to slide into a hole in the insulation guys' schedule and they started today. They're planning to be done with the Icynene by Friday (Saturday at the latest) and the fiberglass guys are coming in Monday. The drywall should start Tuesday!

Pretty scary stuff, but it's inert within a few minutes after being sprayed:

Another big update, sorry it's been so long. Insulation is in and they're long gone. It looks like we found someone who is willing to build our aquarium on-site. So, that can start to move forward again as soon as we get an intro meeting taken care of. The drywall guys are going to town!

Of note, here's the filtration system installed:

And, here's a picture of the massive wires exiting the house to go and attach to the backup generator:

Almost all of the drywall is hung (the upstairs was a beast). It'll take a while to finish out the taping and bedding, but once that's done it'll be on to putting in the hardwood floors. The tile guy has gotten a good start on building the shower tub in the spa bathroom.

The drywall guys finished hanging today! A week ahead of schedule! Now, the drywall cleanup crew needs to come in and tape all of the joints and make everything ready for paint. As soon as the tape guys are done, the crew will start installing hardwood floors.

The carpentry crew is installing some beadboard that we doing for a few of the interior ceilings.

The plumbers filled up the house pipes (including the underfloor heat system) with water at the end of last week to test for leaks. No leaks!

The tile guy filled up with water the undertub that he created for the downstairs shower. It's held water all day! He'll now create two more water-tight layers of tub, just to be sure before he tiles it.

Thank you, Adams0903! Me, too!!

Well, it looks like we've finally decided to go with the local aquarium builder. He's limiting the build a bit because the longest glass he can get is 130" (10' 10"). But, we'd already lost some length because of the foundation in the basement being a little wider than expected and he's going to make up for it by changing the design to add a large external overflow box. Also, he twisted my arm and changed the design to 2'6" high instead of 2'. (For those of you that are counting--and I am :) --that changes the total to about 480 gals.)

:) I'm ready!

New photos are up:

http://65.102.221.68/remodel.html

The taping and bedding crew started today. The carpenters that from another crew in order to hang some bead-board ceilings are down to about one more day and the rest of the carpenters spent the day hanging plywood in the kitchen where we are going to hang a thin (about 1/3 the thickness of normal brick) brick wall.

They are scheduled to start laying flooring in 13 days! Then it'll _really_ be hard not to start moving back in. :)

The steel fabricator finally finished the supports for the brick archways over all of the exterior windows and doors, so the masons started up again today. They always seem to start on Fridays.

Inside, we are finally sliding into the finishing stages! The drywall guys are continuing to finish up the taping and bedding. They should be done after the July 4 weekend. After that, the floor guys will start installing the hardwood. The tile guy seems to be about to really get going. Of course, he's seemed like that for a week now. :) After the hardwood is in, the cabinet guy will get started.

From Stacey, the project manager:

It sounds as if the aquarium will be fabricated onsite within 3 weeks.
Woohoo!

Time for an end of the month mini-update:

http://65.102.221.68/remodel.html

And finally, finally, something tank-related to talk about:

While it's true that the normal person might call that something gauche like "tub deck," they'd be oh so very wrong. Wrong, wrong. That, my friends, is a cleverly disguised, entirely permanent installation of aquarium workstation! Ever had a tank where you had to constantly pull a step ladder out of a closet so you can reach the sandbed? Not me, not anymore. Or, at least, not once there are a few more supports and maybe some tiles to keep the water away. :)

A few new house photos: http://65.102.221.68/remodel.html

The masons are making their way up the house. Sorry, it's too late to do much in the way of inside shots, but the drywallers have finished up and are gone. Tomorrow and Thurday, the painters will be in to prime the walls. Floors start next week. The plumbers is in trying to figure out how to install the shower in the downstairs bath. (The one with the big closed-loop.) :)

Big news, the aquarium builder submitted a bid for the job and we approved it. It's still roughly the same price for the old aquarium, but 6" deeper. Only 130" long on the long pane, though, plus the length of the external overflow. But, it was only an extra $1,000 to make the whole thing in low-iron glass, so that's where we are heading. (Woohoo!)

I put up some more photos: http://65.102.221.68/remodel.html

More masonry. The first coat of primer is on the walls! I'm actually surprised at what a difference that makes. It now looks like a house with ugly white walls. :)

And the plumber is working on the downstairs shower. Quite the closed-loop pump!

Dang taggers! Back again. This time they went to town on my fish room. Seems like some gang named Ampipion or something. Grr.
