Hurry up and wait.

I added the rest of the sand (live pink Fiji). I might take some out but I’ll see how it all looks and everything is settled.



Found some Microbacter from my closet of reefing supplies and added the recommended dosage and some fish food.


I also ordered some Fritz turbo start 900 and some pure ammonia. Once they arrive I’ll add them both.

So now I can let it sit while I finish off the stand and cord management.
I also ordered some magnets to hang the radions and an Advanced Acrylics lid.

I’ll probably end up using both of my DoS and will have an extra dosing head available. So I’m thinking about just dosing Microbacter7 (or similar) on a somewhat consistent basis.

I would use it for something else. Adding bacteria cultures on a regular basis will just die off and increase your nutrient level. The only way to consistently increase bacteria loads is to dose a food source for them that doesn't foul the tank like vodka or vinegar.

Progress! Well kinda. ClearView acrylic Tsunami lid came it today.


Not impressed with packaging. 4/10 only because the stuff inside wasn’t broken.


Happy they supplied the tool to put in the screen.


I understand why they leave on the protective screen... but man does it leave a bad first impression. Also each of these squiggly connectors had no chamfers on them, so trying to get them to mate up was quite difficult.



Honestly it looks super goofy to me. I really hate how two of the 4 sides are different thicknesses. Honestly not sure I’ll keep it because it looks so silly on this small size

Also they forgot to include the tubing to attach the actual screen.


But hey.... at least it fits.

Cubicle magnetic mounted radion


The radions are going to mount under a metal cabinet in my cubicle. So I found a heavy pull magnet and was able to attach it to the radion mount very easily.



Just a quick test to make sure the magnets can hold up the radions. They def can. I wasn’t surprised as they are rated for 35lbs.

How solid is the frame once you puzzle it together? I’ve never seen a lid like that. Does having it come in pieces just make it easier to ship or is there another benefit to it?

It makes the lid modular and less expensive. So you can add a feeding hatch or whatever after it’s already made.

They also sell ones made or of a solid piece of acrylic (which I like much more and I think look better ) but they’re just more expensive. But the rim thickness is also the same all the way around on those

I’d be hesitant to add the neon dottyback, they can be very aggressive. Super cool looking and you can get them captive bred (major plus in my book), but they can be total jerks.
The Yasha with the pistol shrimp is one of the coolest things to watch in a tank. Randall’s pistol shrimp is best for a tank that size and a yasha.

So if I were to get a dotty... maybe add him last?

I thought about swapping that out for a small Flame Angle or flameback angle

Yeah, add last if you do. I think that tank is too small for either of those angels.

I wouldn't do an angel. They don't do well in smaller tank and might eat all your zoas.

One of the smaller flasher wrasse like a McCoskers would give you that flame color you're looking for.

Yeah I’ve just always wanted an angle but I’ll probably still hold off.

Good idea in the wrasse. I was also thinking a royal gramma.
I’m basically going to have a Finding Nemo tank
