And, technically, neither of them are algae, but that's what they're known as.
True story.

Mine wouldn't go away, I finally netted the sand out (after about 3 months of letting it sit there) and added more flow. Never came back.

Check your nitrate levels again. It may be time for a water change, in which case you can syphon it off. If you don't know the age of your bulbs, that could be a culprit but you may need to increase your water flow as well.

It's up for debate and really what your coral can handle (acclimation is key). I've always read 20-25 turnover though. As long as your corals are growing and have PE, you can do what you'd like.

Well I am getting new LED lights this week and a CPR CS50 Overflow to start building a sump/refugium. Then I can get rid of the HOB skimmer. The website says the CPR CS50 can handle up to 300 gal/h but how do I know how much is actually going down? How big of a return pump will I need????

Time to build my new stand and start the sump. I have a CPR CS50 Overflow and return as well, just need sump, skimmer and return pump. YES!
