Smart move. Honestly unless you have a massive fuge producing tons of pods it's going to be a challenge keeping one mandarin alive in a 30 gallon, 2 would be next to impossible. I had one in my 125 gallon and didn't even consider 2 (which I now have)until I upgraded to my 225. I think a lot of times people underestimate how much these guys actually eat because they can wither away so slowly.

Also don't know if you saw the pic of the gorg I got from you but it is doing awesome! I love the difference it made to the look of my tank. I am definitely coming by hopefully this weekend to get a few more. Thanks again.

Here's a quick growth shot of one of my sps. This is after 5 months. I thought it was pretty cool to see how much my tank has grown in that amount of time.

That's awesome

Here's another growth shot. I got this frag of tort from bajamike about a month ago. Anyone know why I get growth but it's usually pretty skinny and fragile growth?

The skinny growth is based on tank flow. If the flow is heavy then the frag will build thicker branches. If it can get away with thin branches because the flow is light then it will.

I wouldn't say my flow is very weak. I run my mp10 at 75%. If I turn it up anymore the polyp extension on my sps changes. They don't extend as much.

I did not mean to imply a weak flow... see your Doctor in that case.

Animals, like corals, try to get away with the least expenditure of energy and resources they can. A very strong flow or very random flow that stresses the branch in all directions causes the creature to build a beefier skeleton.

In this case it has decided that it can build the smaller branches to compensate for the flow in your tank. As the branch gets longer it would have to beef the base up, but for now this is what allows it the best use of energy and resources to gain the most of whatever it is looking for at the moment (light, nutrients, movement, etc.).

The tricks I have seen discussing thicker growth all revolve around more random and higher flow on the piece. So that is what I was trying to pass along.

I knew what you meant. Just couldn't think of a better word than weak lol. Thanks for the info. Do you think if I added another powerhead to the other side of the tank it would help? I wanted to get a wp10 but don't have the cash right now for the group buy. Guess I'll have to pay full price later.
