I bought some frags from one of our sponsors, and was told these were "wild palys". They started moving around my tank, and my gut tells me they are some sort of anemone, because I thought paly's and zoa's couldn't move (can they?).

So, now I"m wondering if I need to yank them out, or leave them in. They have cool coloration, I just don't want 100 of them in my tank.

I just got 3 of the 4 of them out of the tank. The 4th one shrunk, and I'm not 100% sure if he is out or not. If he is still in there, I'll remove him, before he can spread.

They do have great coloring. The pic doesn't do it justice, and was also taken when the LED's were off.

Oh well....

So, all 4 of them have been removed from my tank, and have enjoyed a flame broiling. The rocks are back in the tank.

As far as the vendor, I'd rather not say. I think it was an honest mistake, and he was a stand-up guy to deal with. I also hate throwing people under the bus. I will drop him an email.

Doesn't look or dense enough in the tentacles for a Majano.

I would guess some other type of anemone/polyp. Many are hard to pin down to Polyp vs Anemone, moving around alot sounds more like an Anemone though.

We've got a few little anemones in the big display that are bright neon pink with green skirts, they wander and reproduce, but doen't seem to bother anything so I've let them do their thing. Odd but very cool looking little "psuedo" polyps.

I posted the image on SCMAS to see what their general consensus thinks it is.

Well, they were cool looking. Under the LED's they had a bright neon green mouth, then a bright pink ring around the mouth, then neon green circle around that ring. They've been in there for 3 or so weeks, and the 2 of them turned into 4 over that time frame. I was ok with that, till I realized that they were moving, and I wanted to make sure I didn't put something in the tank that I would regret down the road.

Regardless, they are gone now. I fried them.

BTW - burnt anemone smells like burnt hair.

I agree with D&G i got manjos from a LFS and it isn't anything like I have. Good idea get rid of them before they are all over. When i got them I was afraid to boil due to any unknown toxins (peanuts and bees are not my friend) so i used aptasiax instead. They seem to hide well and move fast, so dont be shocked to see more if they act like mine.

However if you found this guy to be a "standup guy" i don't think he would have sold them to you under the idea that they were a paly.
