Yeah, my signature is accurate. I test every Sunday with my regular tank maintenance.

I am pretty excited for this skimmer. We have them on a couple of our maintenance accounts and they are fantastic. From what I know these guys need a pretty consistent water level.

I have one with a Sicce pump and is it is terrible in lower water levels. If you have any input about the DC after using it for a while, then please let me know. ...now, back to the topic.

Your numbers are looking pretty good. I am glad that they are not going up, at least. In a few more weeks, or another month, you should see them go down as the bacteria grows in more and you fire up that beasty. If you still want to stop by if you are ever up north, I can go through my whole monologue about how to keep them low and show you what I do.

Kris I noticed in your signature it says your temp is 81.2, do you always keep it that high or is that from Halides and it comes down at the end of the day? IF you do keep it that high, are you finding benefits to corals or ......?

Oh and congrats on the new addition to the family, looks like his dad for sure :D

Hey Chad,

That is the temp near the end of the light period with my halides. I try to keep it around 79-80 but it creeps up to 81 if my wife turns off the AC at home.

Sump & Skimmer installed. My co-worker at Premier came over last night to help. Pretty pleased so far. Down the road I am planning on building another sump with the fuge at the end and the skimmer off of a stand. Either thinking neck extensions or a automatic neck cleaner. Still need to clean up some wires and plumbing. Also getting some spray near the drains and skimmer output, not sure what to do about that since getting acrylic or glass over the area is going to be tricky. I will probably get glass to go across most of the sump to help with evaporation.

is that the dc version? looks like great foam production already!
It is. Pretty sweet to have a low wattage multi speed pump. I have the DC 10500 on my list to get next for my return pump.

N and P almost at zero. Still happy that you quit dosing carbon? Colors almost back?

Where do you get a test that does kH to the hundredth? I might need one of those.

The idol amazes me. I love it.

+1 to removing carbon. I personally have never seen a benefit from it. Any time I turn on my carbon reactor I get a gigantic Algae bloom from it. Love the Moorish Idol. I want to get 1 but I think my 120g might be a bit small. Great Tank and contrats to the additions to the family.

I am quite happy that I quit dosing! Colors are coming back and my garf bonsai (canary in the mine) is coming back around.

I use a hanna alkalinity checker for my kH

I think you might be referring to the wrong type of carbon? jda is talking about carbon source dosing, IE, vinegar dosing. Some also use vodka, bio pellets, etc.

IMO a 120 is too small. I had a Idol previously in my 6ft 125 and it outgrew it in a few months. Idols need plenty of swimming room. I wouldn't recommend putting one in less than a 180.
